# Rate Limits

> Default request limits for Embedded Accounts, and how to get them raised.

These are the default limits for each publisher. They can be raised to fit your traffic, so tell your ZBD contact ahead of a launch, a tournament, or a big reward drop.

| Call | Default limit |
| - | - |
| [Credit a User](/embedded-accounts/apis/credit) | 1 per second per user |
| [Make a Purchase](/embedded-accounts/apis/purchase) | 6 per minute per user |
| [Make a Transfer](/embedded-accounts/apis/transfer) | 6 per minute per sender |
| [Create a User](/embedded-accounts/apis/create-user) | 10 per minute |
| [Get Balances](/embedded-accounts/apis/get-balances) | 20 per second |
| [List Transactions](/embedded-accounts/apis/list-transactions), [List Payouts](/embedded-accounts/apis/list-payouts) | 5 per second |
| Projects, currencies, and rates | 1 per second |

A request over the limit returns `429`. Back off and retry with the same `Idempotency-Key`.

Sandbox allows higher limits on most calls, so a clean sandbox run doesn't tell you how production will behave under load.
