Cashing out is where value leaves your economy.

How a cash out starts

A player cashes out in the widget. Create a session with flows: ["cashout"] and open it from a cash out button in your game. The widget takes the player through verification and choosing a payment method if they haven’t done that yet, shows the final amount, and asks them to confirm. Each cash out creates a payout. You get webhooks as it moves through its statuses, and you can read it with Get a Payout or reconcile with List Payouts.

Before a player can cash out

Three things need to be in place. It’s worth showing players where they stand on each well before they try to cash out.
  • Eligible value. Not every part of a balance can be cashed out. This includes fiat: money a player loaded can’t be withdrawn this way.
  • Verification. Players don’t need to verify to hold, earn, or spend, but they do to cash out. Their verification level affects how much they can take out and how quickly. Selling in a marketplace for fiat also requires it.
  • A payment method. The player chooses how to get paid from the options available in their country.

Conversion

A cash out can involve up to two conversions:
  • From your currency to fiat. Your own currency converts at the redemption rate at the moment of cash out. A fiat balance skips this step.
  • From one fiat currency to another. If the currency your game’s account is funded in differs from the currency the player is paid in, ZBD converts between them. For example, you fund in USD and a player in Japan is paid in JPY. The conversion cost is included in the amount shown to the player.
The widget shows the player the final amount, after both conversions and fees, before they confirm.

Where the money goes

Money settles to the payment method the player chose, on a rail available in their country. Fees for that method come out of the amount, so what arrives is less than what left their balance. Faster methods generally cost more.

Funding cash outs

Cash outs are paid from your account for that game, so it needs to cover what players take out. We recommend funding against the volume you expect over a full settlement period, with room for a busier week than usual. See Your own accounts.

What to show players

Most cash out support tickets are about waiting and limits, and you can head off most of them in your own interface. Show players:
  • What they can cash out now
  • What they can’t cash out yet, and what would change that
  • Where a submitted cash out is up to
